News

Apple is allowed to intervene in Lodsys lawsuit against app developers

It has been a long time since there has been any kind of news on the Lodsys cases but this has to be a step in the right direction for those developers who are still dealing with it. Good news.

WWDC-less WWDC

Jonathan ‘Wolf’ Rentzsch lists some pros and cons on the potential of doing “WWDC-lite” by being in and around the city during WWDC week without a ticket. I am not sure if this is a serious suggestion or a cunning plan to distract us all so he can get in first and grab a ticket!

Tools

iPad as a Mac Retina Display

Official HIDPI times with Air Display for the new iPad. Matt Gemmell shows us how to enable and use the HIDPI mode included with Lion with your new shiny. This will have to be good enough until we get the real thing!

Code

Cocoa Literature List

Wonderful resource by Jeff Biggus containing 3000+ links covering pretty much any iOS or Mac OS X development topic you could think of! The feature I liked most about this page is that the articles are ordered by publish date which is essential for getting an idea of how relevant the content is going to be.

Tipi: Tiny Templating Engine

This Mustache style Objective-C templating library Dave Gurnell and Chris Ross looks to be a simple way to add templating support to your app.

Omni Frameworks

These frameworks have been around forever but I came across a link to them again this week and realised I had not linked to them here before. So much code!

NSURLCache Uses a Disk-cache as of iOS5

Interesting find by Pete Steinberger.

Design

iPad GUI PSD for Retina Display

When 132dpi just won’t cut it for your mockups. Teehan and Lax updated their iPad UI elements PSD file for the retina display this week.

Books

Test-Driven iOS Development

There has been a real lack of good information on developing using TDD with Objective-C so I was happy to see Graham Lee’s latest book on test driven development for iOS released this week.

Learning Core Audio

If Core Audio has always been on your list of “Frameworks I need to know more about” then this week’s release of Chris Adamsom and Kevin Avila’s book may be your chance to change that!
