This page details how your personal data is collected and used by the iOS Dev Weekly website and newsletter. By using this website you accept the terms of this privacy policy.
I have written this policy using plain English without legal jargon. Partly because I want you to understand what’s happening to your data, and partly because I am an individual operating this website and not a huge company with a legal team.
This privacy policy was last modified on 17th January 2025. If you have any queries about anything related to privacy on this website, please contact me.
Your rights
In accordance with GDPR regulations, you have the right to request a copy of your data, withdraw your consent for the website to store your data, and request that your data be deleted. Please contact me if you would like to exercise any of these rights.
Your email address
If you choose to subscribe to iOS Dev Weekly via email by submitting the subscribe form, the website will collect and store your email address. Your email address will only be added to the mailing list once you have double opted in to confirm your subscription. The website stores your email address in a private, secure, and self-hosted database managed by a self-hosted version of the Sendy software.
Your email address will only ever be used to send administrative messages about the email list (for example, subscribe and unsubscribe notifications) and the weekly newsletter. Your email address will never be shared with any third parties.
By default, the Sendy software does not delete your email address when you unsubscribe but you may request it be deleted after unsubscribing by contacting me.
If you choose to subscribe to the newsletter via the RSS feed instead of by email, you do not need to supply an email address.
Analytics
The website uses a self-hosted instance of the Plausible Community Edition analytics software. Plausible does not use cookies and does not generate any persistent identifiers or store any personal or identifiable data. For more details on Plausible’s privacy features and how it is compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and the cookie law, please read their data policy.
If you subscribe to the newsletter via email, each issue email contains an image that collects data on whether you opened the email. This data is used to provide me with aggregated data on what percentage of subscribers are opening the email.
The email does not contain any click tracking.
Some sponsored links in the newsletter include UTM attribution parameters. These allow the linked website to attribute the incoming website visit to this newsletter. They contain no personal information at all and can not be used to track you.
Information disclosure
I can not imagine a situation where the email addresses that I send this newsletter to are required by law enforcement. However, if that situation does arrive, I will co-operate fully with law enforcement.
